About City Tour in Barcelona

City Tour in Barcelona is a locally run tour company offering small-group walking tours, hotel pick-up day trips, and private tours across the city, led by licensed local guides. Every small-group tour is capped well below coach-tour size — most top out at 8 to 18 guests — so a guide can actually engage with the people in front of them instead of managing a busload. Prefer your own vehicle and guide? Our four private tours put you in exclusive company, priced per group rather than per person. Whether you want a three-hour Gothic Quarter walk, a full day with hotel pick-up, or a private tour just for your group, the same local-first approach runs through all fifteen tours.

A Local Team, Not a Ticket Counter

We started City Tour in Barcelona because too many visitors end up on tours that feel more like crowd management than a genuine introduction to the city. Our guides are Barcelona locals — licensed, trained, and generally the kind of people who'll happily go off-script if you ask about a tapas bar that never makes it onto a map. Between them they cover everything from Roman-era Barri Gòtic to Gaudí's unfinished cathedral, so whichever tour you book, you're walking with someone who actually knows the ground under your feet.

Group size is the one thing we won't compromise on. A coach tour might move forty people through the Gothic Quarter in a tight loop with a microphone and a flag; ours moves eight to eighteen, close enough that you can hear the guide without headsets and ask a question mid-sentence. Smaller groups also move at a human pace — through La Boqueria's narrow aisles, up the Montjuïc funicular, into the block of Gaudí and Puig i Cadafalch façades on Passeig de Gràcia — without the choreography a fifty-person group forces on a guide.

You'll notice our tours split into two kinds. Walking tours meet at a set point in central Barcelona and cover the city on foot — no vehicle involved, just comfortable shoes and a guide. The full and half-day tours add hotel pick-up and drop-off in an air-conditioned vehicle, which makes sense for longer days that stretch from Montjuïc to Park Güell and back. Both kinds keep the same small-group limit and the same guide-led approach; the real difference is how much ground you're covering and whether you'd rather start from your hotel lobby.

Cable car up to Montjuic Castle beats walking up any day, especially with the view waiting at the top.

Passeig de Gràcia looks completely different once you know what you're looking at, great commentary from the guide.

The Old Town and boat trip packs an incredible amount of Barcelona into four hours.

Our guide adjusted the pace on the Montjuic tour once she saw we wanted more photo stops, really appreciated that.

Sagrada Familia from inside on the highlights tour is a completely different experience than seeing it from the street.

Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, all in one Gaudi walk, better value than I expected for three hours.

The market tour briefing was thorough, and the pintxos tasting made my nervous-about-new-food friend actually relax.

We had a genuinely small group on the Montjuic tour, felt like a proper private experience rather than a big crowd.

Views of Montserrat aside, the castle tower on Montjuic alone made the Barcelona trip worth it.

Arrived early and our guide let us watch the plaza fill up before the earlier group's tour ended, nice touch.

Simple, professional, and the price felt fair for what is genuinely a full day of Barcelona's best sights.

Rescheduled us free of charge when rain rolled in, then the tour two days later had perfectly clear skies.

See It For Yourself

Fifteen tours, three ways to see Barcelona, one local-first promise across all of them. For a first walk through the old city, the Gothic Quarter walking tour covers the Roman walls and hidden squares in three hours. If architecture is more your speed, the Gaudí Modernist Legacy walking tour traces Passeig de Gràcia's façades all the way to Sagrada Família. If you'd rather have one day cover the highlights with hotel pick-up handled for you, the Barcelona in One Day tour takes in Sagrada Família, Park Güell and the Old Town without you managing the logistics. And for a vehicle and guide exclusive to your group, the Barcelona Highlights and Park Güell private tour covers similar ground on your own schedule. Browse the full lineup on the tours page and pick whichever fits your trip.
